Naw, I'm from up thread from but I'm an rper - and I've been in comms with shitty mods. The difference is that, while yeah, shitty mods use it, I've seen good mods come under attack and use point that out as well.

Plus, shitty mods are going to give themselves away with more than just that one point. [For example, they'll probably blame comm members for crap instead of owning up when they fuck up.]

Also an RPer anon who agrees with the upthread arguments. I've most often seen 'not getting paid' as a response to people complaining that the mods aren't ~professional~ enough, where professional tends to mean 'takes as much shit as a customer service rep and smiles about it'.

Getting the things you agreed to do done in a timely fashion? Yeah, that's basic responsibility and participation. But being *constantly* on hand to cater to players whims and wildly varying standards of 'professionalism' is not something volunteers are required to do.

Another DWRPer. I've seen terrible modding, yes. But I don't take "not getting paid" as a sign of a crappy mod. Modding is done because you enjoy helping out the game. That enjoyment is not always going to be at the top of the TDL or even the "funtime" list, so it's natural for it to occasionally take a backseat. Sometimes mods slack too much and it's genuinely hampering the game, but sometimes? Players really are demanding too much for something that's just for fun.
