everyone seems to talks about teen wolf but the only thing they ever talk about is "sterek" and i just don't get it.

is that ship really the only thing worth talking about or what?

i don't really hate teen wolf because i have no reason to hate because i know nothing about outside of that ship. like, absolutely nothing. cause no one talks about anything but sterek.

and honestly it isn't an appealing ship because no one chats about why it's a good ship or why they ship it or anything.

i'm assuming it's because of hot twenty-somethings pretending to be teens.

teen wolf could be the greatest show on the planet but i'll never know because all anyone in this fandom seems to discuss is sterek and they don't even discuss it's more like squeeing.

and now there's the whole sterek vs castiel battle going on (at least on tumblr) and it is the most annoying thing. no ship is better than another ship.

I like teen wolf. Season 1 started off slow but picked up really well towards the end and season 2 was well paced and had some awesome episodes, even if some of the new characters (Matt, Erica, Boyd) lacked decent character development/ motivation.

So in answer to your question, no teen wolf isn't only about the Sterek possibilities and to be honest I don't really see the appeal in that ship. They have very few scenes together, mostly comic relief, and I never really got the shipping vibe from them the same way I can see it in scott/ isaac.

Oh my God, yes!

My friends recommended I watch Teen Wolf, and linked me to a few Sterek fics. I went into it thinking they must have so much chemistry, when, really, they don't.

And then Scott/Isaac had all their adorable moments and I wondered, why the heck doesn't Sterek have half as much intensity?

ita with you on the Sterek thing. I started watching Teen Wolf for the lulz *mutters*andnowisortofloveittopieces but I really don't get the immense love for this pairing - the two characters barely interact more than once every couple of episodes (especially in season 2)and there are SO MANY MORE interesting potential slash pairings floating around that actually have more "subtext" imo (also, no love for the canonically gay character? Really, fandom? Danny's hot too!).
I love both Derek and Stiles as characters, but together? Nope, sorry. I'll be over here shipping Isaac/Scott and Danny/Jackson...

The Sterek vs. Castiel thing is a fandom poll over at afterelton.com. The fandom isn't usually like that. It's not about any ship being better, it's about a thing from EW that denied entrance to same-gendered ships in their polls and it sparked a whole thing.

There are plenty of people in the teen wolf fandom who are not Sterek shippers, and plenty people who aren't "Sterek sterek sterek" all the time.

There's many of us who enjoy the show because of the wolf pack, because of Stiles, because of Danny, because of the adult characters (Sheriff Stilinski and Chris Argent are the best ever, and Victoria Argent is the scariest ever!).

There are places of the Teen Wolf fandom that are happy and moderate and loving. Look for stuff marked with wolf pack and marked with other characters. Honestly, you can watch the show and not see more than a hint of Sterek, so don't worry about it.

And if you don't want to watch, then don't. That's fine too.

I am just replying because I have lots of feels towards this show. One, this show is all about the female gaze, which I really appreciate. All of the men on this show are awesomely hot.

And if they keep trying to makes Stiles/Lydia happen, I am gonna be pissed. (I understand why it's a plot point, but it's really annoying me) Mostly because I fucking love Lydia with Jackson - and after the S2 finale, it was kinda all about how they truly love each other.

Also. I just want more of Lydia. So much more of her.

Yes to all of this. I love Jackson/Lydia like crazy and Stiles needs to move into that place where he's friends with Lydia but not pursuing her. Stiles needs someone who can love him for who he is.

Also, more Lydia, please please please. She is fantastic.

Ah! Another person. I don't need Stiles to end up with Lydia (and I don't particularly want him want him with Erica, cause try as I might, I just don't particularly like her right now. And she did the same thing to Stiles that Stiles does to Lydia)

But Lydia and Jackson just work for me.

Actually Lydia just works for me. I think that she is one of the best written characters in the show. She is nuanced and wonderful and I just want more of her being bitchy and smart and awesome. (And beautiful)

I don't think I would want for Stiles to be with any of the current characters. I actually love Erica quite a bit, but I would prefer her with Boyd or Isaac (or both, but I don't think Teen Wolf is willing to go there). I love Danny, but I can't quite see Stiles with him either, not in the show at least. I'd like to see Stiles explore a little, honestly. Date around, maybe have some ridiculously bad dates and some nice, sweet dates, and for him to really get an idea of who he is, what he wants, and what he has to offer someone before he looks to exclusively date someone. I generally ascribe to the theory that Stiles has the idea of Lydia in his mind as his idea partner, and also that on some deeper level she's safe for him to lust after because he pretty much has no chance. If he has no real chance, he also can't get really hurt by it and can't get hurt by going out and trying to date other people. I think Stiles has some growth to do there, but I would really like it if Lydia and Stiles became friends and research buddies.

I think Lydia and Jackson are a really good fic, especially now that they're in a place where they can be more honest with each other. And, once you know that there is enough love to pull someone out of a lizard-funk and essentially bring him back from the dead (in a round about way), I think you know you've got something. Also, when I rewatch season 1 and see the scenes where Lydia and Jackson are still together, they make such a wonderful couple. I'd prefer if Lydia let her smarts show to Jackson more, and I hope she does more in season 3, but especially in the bowling alley it's so clear how well they respond and fit together. And Jackson, getting The Notebook, even after he swears he's not going to watch it again, because on some level I think he does love Lydia. And I think the happiest we see Lydia is when she's with Jackson.

Lydia is wonderfully written and wonderfully acted. She hits such a wide range of emotions and she is very well motivated in terms of the story. I didn't feel that way so much in the last two episodes of season 2 (the lacrosse game and the scenes in Stiles room), and I'd really like to see the aftereffects of basically carrying someone in your mind like she did for Peter. Lydia is the best of all worlds and I have high hopes for season three in terms of her story arc.

But as for me I would hate for Lydia/Stiles to happen because to me Lydia would never see him as an equal (partially because of Stiles' worship towards her). I don't like Lydia/Jackson that much either, but that's because I have an aversion towards their type of characters. I hope they will be more developed next season so I can start to like them, like I did start liking Stiles this season.

In fact, I don't like most of the characters on the show. xD I love the Argents and now the Stilinskis and I don't get Sterek and I don't like Derek, Erica, Scott or Lydia. Lol, I hope it will change.

I've seen teen wolf and while I don't ship it (yet), Stiles and his interactions with others is my main reason for watching the shows. I personally enjoy the sarcastic banter he's got going on with Derek, especially considering they keep grudgingly saving each other's lives.
It's...fun to watch?

Yeah, the Sterek Castiel battle is ridiculous. I was browsing the sterek tag for new artists and all it was was Castiel fans getting very upset over how their love is more canon than Sterek love
*rolls eyes* Considering nether is canon, it's a stupid argument.
