Camelot was...not the greatest, lmao. I was one of the few who watched it and enjoyed it despite that, but I think Eva Green and Joseph Fiennes were the main reason for that.

Same for me!

Eva Green's was one of my favorite Morgan le Fay portrayals, though she was a bit melodramatic at times, and I loved Merlin, too. They were probably my favorites, but really, most of the side characters outside the Arthur/Guinevere relationship were. :P

Agreed, I thought Eva was very good as Morgan and Merlin was probably my favorite. Some of the smaller characters were pretty likable imo and the dynamics forming between them were kinda nice, but I pretty much immediately disliked both Arthur and Guinevere so I can understand some of the hate as well. Obviously those two were a huge part of the show, and I wasn't fond of them at all (especially together).

I can't even tell you exactly how much I loathed the Arthur/Guinevere relationship (and, really, them as characters). Really, I don't think I've felt that negatively toward a couple in a LONG time. I recorded the episodes on my DVR and actually skipped every scene with them I possibly could, which, granted, affected nothing, as they were naked 80% of the time.

I mean, the show BBC Merlin has its flaws, too, obviously, but at least in that, even if I shipped Arthur and Merlin, I loved Guinevere as a character.

Those are basically my feelings as well. I didn't skip the Arthur/Guinevere scenes simply because I can't ever bring myself to skip scenes (even if I know I'm most likely going to hate them; it's a curse), but oh, I wish I could've. When I don't like couples I usually go 'meh', ship whatever I want and forget about it, but there was active hate with those two.

Yea, BBC Merlin's Guinevere isn't bad; she's not the most interesting character imo and I can't really make myself ship her and Arthur because I feel their romance was poorly executed, but she's likable regardless.

So, again, for me, BBC Merlin is more watchable then Camelot despite it's issues.

I agree completely, on all counts. :) Merlin S5, woo! ...I'm mostly excited because I've been an Arthurian legends geek forever, and even if Merlin's continuity is a flub at times, my favorite Arthurian legends character is returning. \0/

I'm so behind on Merlin news! This thread has reminded me that I need to see if I'm caught up and when exactly S5 premieres. So thanks for that!
