A Clash of Kings also! :) I'm near the end, right smack in the middle of the big battle. This book has taken me forever, too, but it's been entertaining.

Also terrible kinkmeme fills.

How great is that book? I was just sort of along for the ride with Game of Thrones but by Clash of Kings I got so invested in the characters, man. I can't even tell you what a treat you're in for with Storm of Swords- that's the first book in literally years that had me freaking out in real life at some of the shit that went down.

Terrible kinkmeme fills are kind of awesome. I didn't really like the Avengers but I'm considering checking out their kinkmeme for the lulz now that I actually know who's who.

Oh God, it is an awesome read. I'm almost sad to be at the end - but I've heard that A Storm of Swords is awesome, so I'm excited at the same time. I've heard that A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons aren't as good, but I'll read until I get bored or annoyed with ASIOAF. Hopefully never. ;)

I can see the Avengers kinkmeme being full of badfic. I wouldn't be able to keep up with it all though, good or bad.

I honestly think a lot of the flack that AFFC and DWD get are because there was such a long gap in between books that people had developed their own ideas about what was going to happen next and got annoyed when their fanon wasn't adhered to. I mean, I read Feast for Crows directly after Storm of Swords, and I kind of loved it. I can definitely see why people bitch about Dance of Dragons based on particular sections/directions that some characters take, but I think overall it's a satisfying read with some really interesting new characters.

(And some people are just mad because it didn't mention their faves, tbh)
