OOC how? Those are all external circumstances, I can't see how Walt's character would affect his A: getting arrested or B: going into remission again.

Unless you think he'd kill himself rather than go to jail or something? But at this point, I don't think he would. His ego wouldn't allow it.

You're right. I guess it depends on how you interpret the comment. I say it seems OOC because I'm imagining the "playing checkers" part being symbolic of Walt resigning and giving up the game he's been playing in life for some listless game of prison checkers. They seem to be setting us up to think he's going out in a blaze of glory, so the "playing checkers" part resonated as inglorious.

I basically imagined a scene as I read the comment and the implications of my imagined scene made Walter seem OOC.

In reality, if the show ended that way, they'd probably find a way to make it great.

Ugh, I really hope he doesn't go out in a blaze of glory. I would vastly prefer the "sad checkers" scenario.

I'm split on Walt's ending. Part of me wants him to have immense physical pain and suffering for extended periods of time. Another part of me wants to see him to live with his crimes (moral and legal) in a jail cell.

I know they love to use Walt Whitman references, but if they used TS Eliot, jail would be an appropriate ending; "This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but with a whimper"
