As a perkier sibling to yesterday's fandoms you wish your friends shared, fandoms your friends actually were happy you introduced them to.

I was lamenting the fact that I didn't know any other Damages fans the other day, when it turned out that my aspiring lawyer friend had literally never heard of the show before and got really excited when she read the summary and is powering her way through the show right now!

My best friend and I share fandoms all of the time. Recently, I've gotten her into K-Pop and Community, and she's gotten me into Top Gear and Eurovision. I managed to even get one of my other close friends into Community, despite me thinking it wouldn't be her type of show. Though, I still think she's missing the point of some episodes, and I don't mean that in a Community-is-too-deep-for-you-plebes way. Like, I'm not sure she realizes it's a comedy :\

In the opposite direction, one of my good friends at college managed to get pretty much all of her friends at the school into Tiger & Bunny (and I then got my best friend at home into it xD), and it was really awesome being able to discuss it with a big group of friends.

I got my best friend into the Persona series. And then he got me into Final Fantasy ohoho. It's been great being able to discuss games with someone else in rl.

i dont know if it counts as "getting into a fandom," but i nagged my brother until he got half life 2. he seemed pretty convinced that he was not going to like it, but then ended up playing it for like 10 consecutive hours. i felt smug as shit.

Got my Dad into Doctor Who and Babylon 5, my sister into Legend of the Seeker and Stargate SG1, and my Mom into Grey's Anatomy.

I've got several people into various BioWare games. (Which is great since now I have someone to talk about them with.)

Kingdom Hearts and Phoenix Wright also.

Kinda Drop Dead Diva (she's behind and doesn't watch it regularly), because she's watched enough of the show that I can rant about it and she'll understand what I'm saying. (Which, again, is nice!)

And this was a long time ago, but I'm super happy I got my friend into Pendragon (books) because of the forums incident, and also for all the crack filled RP convos we had.

I didn't get you into Kingdom Hearts! I don't think...did I? lmao, I'm not sure about Phoenix Wright either. (And you were already into some BioWare games before me.)

But...yes, I talk about you. Constantly. Your existence should feel validated about five times over.

Oh, I know it wasn't ALL me (I was already KOTOR obsessed before you since one of our first convos was me wanting to throw things in Malaks jaw) but, yeah lol

Pendragon! I've gotten a copy of those books on my Kindle finally so that I can reread them.

Wow, I didn't think anyone else would know Pendragon! I love fs like whoa for reasons like this.

And that's a great idea! I have the books and I've been wanting to read them again, but haven't. If I had a digital version...it might encourage me to do so faster.

Deathnote. I recommended it to a friend and they went nuts for it. :)

I successfully got my friend into His Dark Materials, which was awesome. Suffering alongside a friend is the best kind of suffering, I find. And I kind of got my sister into the Avengers? She would have eventually, but I just insisted she saw the film ASAP so I could have someone to squee with.

The reverse: my sister was getting super super excited about Castle, so she made me watch it. The only problem is, I'm now obsessed, and her excitement has waned drastically in the past two years. I'm not that fussed though, it means when I start ranting to her about it, I can just yell at her YOU DID THIS, YOU MADE ME THIS WAY, and she has to listen xD

Got at least two people into Dangan Ronpa and all the speculation that goes with it. At least three into Madoka Magica. I am The Fic Reccer to one of my friends because of all the HP fics I've gotten her into.

Kinda cool really.

I got my mom and two of my best friends into Doctor Who. And my friends introduced me to Firefly. Win-win!

I convinced a friend to watch Medabots and he converted his entire res floor. Their dinner call was literally "MEDABOOOOOOOOOOOOOTS!"

They were all 18-23 year old guys btw.

I've gotten my friends into anime/yaoi with Hetalia and I also got them into Supernatural. It's pretty good.

When we were in school I got my best friend to watch the Sailor Moon dub with me, starting our mutual shameless love of anime, and animation in general.

Years later I let her borrow my copy of The Color of Magic, by Terry Pratchett. I never got that book back, and eventually had to get a new copy, but just about her entire family loves me for introducing them to Discworld. My parents on the other hand just gave me funny looks after trying to read any TP book.

My SO and I introduced each other to lots of our now favorite things. Like, I introduced him to MST3k and and he introduced me to The Young Ones/Bottom/Filthy, Rich and Catflap.

Our fannish likes and dislikes play off each other.

I just got my roommate into Kamen Rider Black

I bought Blazblue for one of my friends and told her she should play it because there was lots of gay incest subtext.

It worked. :]

I recently got my sister into Parks and Rec. She loves Ron Swanson.

I'm so proud of her.

I'm just really really happy when my RL best friend reads the things I tell him to read. It takes him forever to get around to it but when he says "Everybody is reading the Hunger Games now, thank you for making me cool." and "I know this really pompous guy who's in a queer studies class and he asked if I knew about Alison Bechdel and I was able to say YES ACTUALLY I HAVE." I feel really warm and fuzzy inside.

Not sure I can count MLP a success. D: Though luckily she's not a Brony and hates the fandom for it.
