That was what I was thinking. I mean, I don't like Hetalia, I have huge problems with it and with the loud crazy faction of its fandom, but as far as I remembered... incest didn't really entered the equation, not like in Supernatural, Avengers or Harry Potter where there are popular incest pairings.

I do understand the "I can't ship them because I see them as brothers" argument (It happens to me with certain ships, in certain fandoms) but I just can't wrap my head around calling something incest when it's not incest (Say, I can't ship Thor/Loki BECAUSE it's incest and that's a squick of mine, and I'd like people to correctly label their fics, thanks a lot. But I also can't ship Clint Barton with Kate Bishop, since I see them as older brother/younger sister type of relationship, but there's no way I'll argue that Clint/Kate is incest)

No, same. There are absolutely relationships that I see as sibling dynamics even when they're not literal siblings. But I'm not going to be like "OMG INCEST" when it's... not incest and the view of the relationship I hold is completely subjective.

One of the major pairings that gets the 'INCEST!!11!' reaction when it canonly *isn't* is one where the older one found the other in a field. Literally found him in a field - and even though he 'claimed' him as a brother [meaning that the younger became the older's colony, at least in this case] it's also canon that they didn't see each other very often while the younger was growing up, and was mostly left on his own.

However, the people crying incest focus on the brothers part, to the point of them being blood related, and the older having had a very strong influence in the younger's upbringing - and use that as a point to bash people who do ship it, instead of taking the stance of 'This is how I see it, and why I don't ship them' - and a number ship pairings where the older of the two actually *did* have a strong influence in the younger's up bringing, and saw them frequently, if not actually lived with them [in canon].

In the case of USxUK there's also the fact that America explicitly severs any kind of brotherly relationship with him during the American revolution (outright says it!). And the fact that when asked about being brothers, they very staunchly say they are not. Himaruya himself refers to them as 'friends.'

And a number ship pairings where the older of the two actually *did* have a strong influence in the younger's up bringing, and saw them frequently, if not actually lived with them [in canon].

Yep, this.
