No, but the friend who was poor had one of the more sympathetic reasons for getting mad at her. She acted like an ignorant, spoiled rich kid making a half-hearted effort to be charitable but not caring enough to try to understand what his life was really like and yeah, that would piss me off quite a bit. Reading it in the notebook probably wasn't the first time he'd felt like that, rather it just cemented the resentment.

I can understand it pissing you off (and pissing him off), but would you then try to destroy her life?

That's the more important part, to me. Deciding no longer to be friends with someone as a result of how they've behaved is one thing; bullying that person is another. Neither action makes the other right.

One of the only scenes I can remember vividly from the movie was her insisting that he dropped the extra dollar he needed to buy a carton of milk. It wasn't like she was trying to make him feel bad. She was just trying to help him in whatever way she could.
