Half points: there's no reason to tell us the first paragraph. You could have just kept it, "Stephen Fry is my hero" and nothing would be lost. But there's some effort there and it's a lot better than most.

I disagree. I think there's every reason to tell us the first paragraph. With it, we are treated to both the depth of OP's feeling and the power of OP's revelation.
