Uh...what the title says. Try and remember all the superhero movies you've ever seen and rank them by how much you liked them.

No, this isn't a blatant attempt to trawl the F!S community for recs what makes you say that...

the Incredibles was pretty good if you haven't seen it.

I also liked Mask of the Phantasm a lot when I was younger, but I haven't seen it in a while

So, yeah, I stopped watching superhero movies a couple years ago. Just... I don't know. I'm sure the most recent wave of superhero movies is very good, I just have no interest in watching superhero movies anymore.

Also, everyone needs to watch The Rocketeer, because that's seriously one of my favorite movies ever. It's just so fun. It's a blast.

Man, I can't rank my faves in lists to save my life, but I'll try to give you some stats:

I haven't seen all of Watchmen but I liked what I saw less than Ghost Rider but more than Daredevil, and I haven't seen all of Wanted but I liked it more than the Spider-Man movies.

I don't have good taste in movies.

I actually liked Green Lantern too, even though I objectively thought it was a pretty crappy movie :) For some reason that version of Hal Jordan was ridiculously endearing (even if he's terrible candidate for being a Green Lantern according to the comics because blah blah I'll just shut up now) -- this guy is a total asshole who would make a godawful superhero, and acts like it, and KNOWS it, but he still tries.

Seconding Unbreakable - I mean, Bruce Willis and Samuel L to start with, in a movie that's good and not Die Hard 3 - yes, go team. But seriously, I would rate this as better and a bigger mindfuck than The 6th Sense - just don't read any spoilers before you see it! (Note that it's not really a traditional superhero movie though - more just an interesting story, at least as I saw it)

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen had so much potential to me yaaaaargh why wasn't it goooood *facepalm*

I still sit down to watch it when it's playing on TV and think of ~what could have been

A note before we start: I'm not a comic reader at all, so these recommendations are purely based on how much I enjoyed each movie as a movie, rather than as adaptations.

If you want fun, uplifting movies, these are what I enjoyed (best liked listed first):

- The Incredibles (seriously, it's super cute, if you do not like this you probably aren't going to like any superhero movies!)
- Sky High (under-appreciated adorable Disney live-action gem about a superhero high school, with extra Kurt Russell & Bruce Campbell and a soundtrack made entirely of covers of 80s pop songs as icing on the cake)
- the first two X-Men films (then First Class). Watch the X-men be a big happy superpowered family, Wolverine be awesome and Prof X and Magneto have barely concealed love for each other. In all 3 (to varying degrees.))
- Both Hellboy movies - they're fun, funny, action-packed, cute and a bit offbeat - and the first one has clockwork Nazis. What more do you want in a movie?
- Megamind - so much love for Megamind. If you liked the Incredibles, you'll like this :)
- Raimi's Spiderman trilogy (The first two are basically superhero movies done right, and idgaf, Spiderman III is ridiculously entertainingly stupid in a good way - just prepare yourself for the stupid before you watch it)
- The Avengers (you will probably enjoy it more if you see the preceding movies, but they're not necessary to understand the plot)
- Iron Man (the 2nd one's okay) - RDJ is a sexy sassy mofo, the movie & sequel
- Tim Burton's Batman movies - campy costumed fun, but might seem a bit lacklustre compared to moder superhero movies
- Thor + Captain America (lumping the two together because I watched both basically for shirtless Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans, and I was not disappointed)

And if you want something a bit grittier/ more depressing, there's Nolan's Batman movies. A shorter list, you might say.

Ones I don't recommend in no particular order:

- X-men 3: The Last Stand (just shitty & disappointing compared to the other films)
- Wolverine (ditto, but admittedly more entertaining than XIII, watch if you want something to rot your brain good)
- Both Hulk movies - just boring, really
- Superman Returns with Brandon Routh - boring & shitty, a glorious combo
- The George Clooney & Val Kilmer Batmans (though, really these are good fun if you can turn your brain off - actually Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones as The Riddler and Two Face respectively are almost enough to make me swap Val Kilmer's to the other list. George Clooney's bat nipple suit leaves him forever lingering in bad superhero movie purgatory though)
- Watchmen (just didn't like it - read the comic instead, or at least first, then decide whether you want to see it)
- Ghostrider - I can't say it's good, but if you like stupid and Nic Cage this might just work for you
- Kickass - a lot of people love this - not me - but if you like cartoonish hyperviolence interspersed with Apatow like teenage boy humour, this could also work for you
- Stallone's Judge Dredd - painful in the extreme, but almost worth it for the 'It's a lie!' scene - but you can watch that on youtube anyway
- Elektra - just really bad.
- Any of the TMNT movies - though the secret of the ooze has Vanilla Ice, if you're into that kind of thing

And there we have all the superhero movies I can remember anything meaningful about. Hope you find something you like. And I hope I find something better to do with my day besides compile this list...

Is Constantine a superhero? Idk, but I'd rank it up there if it was counted, lol.

I also liked what I saw of Defendor. It was a surprisingly realistic take on the dangers of vigilantism. Unfortunately, I only saw the tail end of it. Metric's "Help, I'm Alive" playing during the end credits gained it points in my book.

Batman and Robin was a childhood comfort film for me so I'll never not like it lmao

Well, there seems to be a consensus in a few above comments, so I'll give you some of my lesser-known faves, in no particular order.

Hellboy
Condorman (sort of James Bond meets Superhero)
Blade (vampire superhero)
The Crow (but only the first one, seriously)
Tomb Raider (I know a lot of people didn't like this one, but I thought it was cute)

I'm terrible at ranking things. Here are my thoughts.

I like X2 better than X1. I've blocked X3, Wolverine Orgins, and First Class from my memory because I hate them. I like Spiderman 2 better than 1 and I like 3, but only slightly.

The only Batman movies I like are Christopher Nolan's. (I've haven't seen TDKR, thought.) The other Batman movies are okay, but get progressively worse, imo.

I liked the characters in Thor and Captain America, but the movies? Not as much. I like Ironman 2 better than 1. The Hulk movies suck and need a riffing track to be bearable. I liked The Avengers.

Watchmen was great.

The Fantastic 4 movies also require a riffing track to be bearable.

Green Lantern was a miserable experience.

Hancock was a sad misfire of a decent idea.

Ghostrider 1 and 2 were amusing, but not very good.

I like Hellboy 1 and 2.

I like Kick-Ass.

Liked X-men 2 and the third one better than the first one.

Hated X-men First Class. Fuck that movie.

Liked Batman and Robin, god help me, enjoyed Batman Begins.

Loved The Incredibles and Avengers.
