I've heard that once as "when women joined the workforce, it became more common for most families to have two sources of income, and prices naturally raised to accommodate that" which...sorta sounds like it makes sense, although I don't know enough about economics to know if it really does if you know what you're talking about. But "Men are paid less because of the evil wimminz!" is a new one to me.

But... but... you can't just UP and join the workforce. The jobs had to exist in the first place for the women to work them. Did he want all men to be employed and all women stay at home and have job shortages everywhere?

Like, I know he's probably talking about inflation but I don't know enough economics to argue his point.

This is my thinking. I do believe that more families having double incomes allowed costs-of-living to rise and employers to get away with letting wages stagnate against inflation, but like you said, those jobs had to have already been available. Before the recession, the US went through some periods of very low unemployment, so it's not like women displaced large numbers of male workers - the entire workforce grew.

Two-income households becoming more common was simply a natural outcome of this because if more women have jobs, there will be more couples where both partners have jobs.

No, this is actually a thing. House prices certainly went up partly because of the rise in two-income households. And people will tolerate lower wages when they know they're in a two-income household, because a working wage is no longer expected to support a whole family: there's less incentive and expectation to drive a strike for higher wages, and less judgement on employers for not paying a living wage.
