Uh, no. Remember Daniel Radcliffe in 'Equus'? That play's run ended, what, three years ago? Something like that? Exactly who is being kept out of making a living if a recording of that play were to be sold today?

Nobody.

And wth, dude - i should go see a play live to help keep stage hands, etc., in a paycheck but i should go watch a bootleg? That makes *no* sense.

Considering i'll probably never get to see 'Lion King' either way, i'll take the DVD. And yes, the local high school and theatre group and college two hours away put on plays, and i've seen some, but really - how is a production like that remotely like a Broadway show? Which is what i'm talking about?

Sorry, your arguments are not convincing me. And there is no dinner theatre around here without invoking the same damn issues - time, distance and money that i can ill afford.

I was trying to give you options if you were so desperate to see a damn broadway show. Which is WHY I pointed out the bootleg and youtube routes, because yeah it does such not be able to see shows. And dude there ARE still productions of Equus going on.

I'm not sure why you think your entitled to seeing this stuff. You aren't. It sucks, but life does that some times. You don't have the right to see musicals cheaply. Seriously, I know in fandom we're used to getting everything on download or cheap off amazon or streaming from netflicks, but either you can watch shit on youtube or download bootlegs or you can drive several hours and spend money and know that your supporting the arts.

Like I said I'd love a dvd of Spamalot or Wicked or several others, if at some point it happens I'll be over the moon. But if it doesn't it's most likely not because someone is being greedy or mean.

Sorry for not wanting to see live shows die out.

Oh, please, get off your high horse. Having a DVD of a play - particularly with a particular cast or actor in it - released for sale to the general public once that version is done - will *not* make live shows die out.

Get a grip.

And please quit with your 'you're so entitled' business. Wishing I could see Mr. Radcliffe do 'Equus' is not 'fangirl entitlement', it's a fan of the actor wishing she could have seen what was probably an amazing performance, and one that *is not* currently running, nor probably ever will again.

Do you see the difference here? I can go see 'Equus' or any other play at any time, but it's the particular cast and/or actor in a particular run that really intrigues me, and in the case of some shows - the incredible sets and costumes that dinner theatre or my local high school will never be able to pull off.
