I think Edith and Sir Anthony are cute together and I'm proud of Edith for going after what she wants!

(although as a ship they don't give me feels like Mary and Matthew do)

I haven't seen this show in a while and for a second I thought that was her dad. I was very confused. I keep forgetting this is back on in the UK.

I forget why he was pushing her pushing her away. But, good luck.

Because he was too old...or something...I think. I forget half the subplots in series 2 (is that how you say it? Series 2, not season 2? /clueless American).

But... didn't he "court" her, or whatever, first? Erg. I remember being irritated with him rejecting her, so it probably was because he was "too old."

Too old + he got injured in the war and now has a bum arm.

He courted her, was almost going to marry her, and then Edith's sister did a nasty little bit of sabotage and basically told him Edith was just humoring him but was secretly appalled and amused by him.

So he left for a bit, and then Edith finally stepped up and said 'that was all crap' and has been inviting him to luncheons and outings and whatnot.

Now, after some hoopla, she's finally got the blessing of her father to pursue him seriously and YAY. So happy for her.

"Fight for your man" - who's said he doesn't want you... um, you're taking a Victorian model of How Heterosexuality Works as an indication this is healthy and this dude is secretly meant for you 4eva and isn't toxic for you? It's really not the age difference that Sir Anthony was bothered by- it was that he was hurt in the war and now can't do all the things he feels a husband should do.

I love this pairing too, but...OP. *takes a deep breath* That is TV and your situation is Real Life. Your Sir Anthony's excuses might sound similar, but they might also be the sugar coating for his real reasons. The bottom line is, he's pushing you away. If he wanted to be with you, age gaps wouldn't matter to him-- just like how they don't matter to you.

Planning some sort of tricksy adventure to win him over is really cute in TV and movies, but it can backfire hugely in Real Life. Please be careful and respect other peoples' boundaries.

Oh OP...I know it's been said several times already but, that's TV, not real life. In fact, several of the pairings shown to be working out, canonly, in media would either realistically not work out, or would be amazingly toxic if they did. I can't speak for the specifics of this situation [I've never watched the show], but if he point blank asked her to stop chasing him...then, as a rule? It's best to respect that wish.

One the biggest things here you might want to consider is that, while you can see the entire reason Sir Anthony has said 'Stop', you really can't be that sure of it in Real Life. Is there a chance that he's been entirely honest about his reasons when he told you? Yes, and depending on the guy the chance could even be fairly high - but. There's still a chance, even a decent chance if he feels it might hurt you/be more trouble than it's worth to explain, that there might be another reason he's no longer interested in pursuing a relationship with you. Either way, the fact that you're still chasing him after he's asked you to stop is pretty damn disrespectful of his wishes.
