I feel weird since I never went through a female-hating stage. I always tended to like female characters more.

Me too. lol it was a shock when I first got into my first fandom and saw so much of it.

Me, too. Like, from the '60's and as a little kid, I always wanted more interesting female characters, preferably not just the love interest, but as interesting within their own rights. And this was in my books, my cartoons, my television series...I mean, the best and I mean best I had was Emma Peel from The Avengers in the '60's, and she was such a great character, and not just there to be the love interest.

Ditto. Oh there were a few scattered female characters here and there when I was really itty bitty and didn't even know what fandom was, but for the most part I've really loved female characters in... pretty everything.

You know, F!S kind of was starting to give me the impression that I was the only one who had always had a bit of a preference for female characters. I've never hated male characters, but my absolute favorites are almost always female. Kinda glad to see I'm not the only one!

Same. I used to hold male characters to a much higher standard, so I hated way more of them and enjoyed way more females. My dad had drilled into my head from an early age that men were never allowed to be weak, never allowed to cry, never allowed to fail, so any male character that did any of these things was a write-off. (I was one of those extreme Shinji haters, as you might guess.) Whereas female characters could do any/all of these things and still be cool because, you know, they're just women.

...Which was misogynist as fuck in its own way, of course.

Me too, anon! I grew up with Uhura, Wonder Woman and Lady Oscar from Versailles No Bara as my idols, so I always focused more on them in my fandoms!
