I'd never suggest solely posting something to ff.net. I avoid it all together but understand some people want the largest audience possible and ff.net does have a lot of traffic, so I'd say cross post.

AO3 has a long waiting list so there's that problem. Some people have invite codes so you could search around.

Have you looked at LJ or DW communities? A lot of people still post on their journal accounts and link to the fic via communities and such.
