I agree with you. He gets a lot of look-at-me-eat-sweets-and-be-a-panda cuteness and not enough chaining-girl-to-a-chair-BLINDFOLDED-for-months ruthlessness. I'm of the firm belief that all the big-brained characters in Death Note are pretty unpleasant people. (I love it!)

SO MUCH FUCKING WORD. I blame all the damn chibi art--why if I never see another chibi L in my entire life. . .

Both L and Light are, in their own ways, having one over on the whole world and having a good laugh at its expense--this is why they're such fun characters. (And also why they're such utter bastards, but that's the fun of that series! ^^)
