never cared for this cartoon, but i feel you on being mega into something whose target demo skews way younger.

story of my life rn, and mine is worse because it's live action and recent so no one excuses it as nostalgia, so fucking depressing.

I tend to like a lot of things that are for a younger audience. I used to feel kind of weird about it but then I reached a point where I was like "fuck it. It makes me happy so I don't even care."

As someone who usually ships the main slash pairing of any fandom she's in by lucky accident, I'm suddenly understanding how people with lesser ships must have felt in my other fandoms now that I'm into Teen Wolf, because my god does Sterek bore me to tears. But I'm not foaming at the mouth at the unfairness of it all, because at the same time I get it. I get what ingredients go into making a fandom's OTP - sure, racism and sexism are definitely factors, but really it's mainly about the characters' prominence in the show and how their personalities mesh together.

And that's why I'm not moaning (much) about Sterek, since I don't really expect everyone else to like what I like in the show. (I mean, unless anyone is interested in writing 50,000 word epics about side characters Boyd and Danny's undeniable romance, or Sheriff Stilinski and Scott's Mama having lulzy middle-aged dating shenanigans until finally finding love with each other... anyone, anyone, Bueller?)

Plus, my actual OTP of the show is Stiles/Lydia, and I know the fandom has a lot to say about the Nice Guy-ness of that rapidly shipping ship, so I think I'll keep my mouth shut on this one for the time being...

Except about the Sterek shippers who think Sterek is a gay rights issue. Those guys are nuts.
