Yeah, it just rankled because they linked a similar blog with similar purposes shortly after I asked, so I know they don't dislike the notion. I only mentioned my own race once, but there were only a handful of posts when I sent the link, and that was one of them. It was only a disclaimer, but I feel odd about being ignored when the other one was posted.
I don't believe I've been fetishizing or playing for brownie points - I've been very, very careful with my tone. I'm just doing it because:
1. People were trading links for single black characters they would consider cosplaying just because they were black on an interest page I'm connected with.
2. I am a giant otaku with quite a lot of knowledge to draw on. I've been trying to focus on characters who aren't usually talked about (for instance, Sara from Gallery Fake? Just remembered about her the other day and thought it would be nice to write her up).
3. I like the intellectual challenge of tracking down and researching as many dark-skinned characters as possible for the project.
