It is. And on the show, the "jokes" consist of a few instances of Sherlock being a bratty little brother and saying stuff like "How's the diet?"

(In ACD canon, there are no fat jokes. Mycroft is simply described as overweight and that is that.)

I think this is a case of fandom overdoing it in fic and on memes and people letting fannon supersede canon.
