Even ignoring the fact that the film's depiction of religion was satirical, I find it amusing that any sympathetic depiction of a person's faith or portrayal of a higher power as benevolent is depicted as being "propaganda".

What's even more amusing is that I've seen these accusations lobbed at creators who aren't religious or at the very least aren't trying to make a religious statement with their work.

Of course it goes both ways. Stephen King has portrayed religious people both negatively and positively so he's gotten flack from both sides.
