Ugh, these piss me off so much. So not helped by the fucking awful writing in the movies that simultaneously made her the Best Thing Ever while stripping her of all her charm and endearingness.

Also, the Weasleys are literally my favorite fictional family in the history of everything, and hate for them is an instant dealbreaker for me.

THIS. I loved how Book!Hermione wasn't perfectly gorgeous and really didn't care that much about her looks. Damn the movies for taking that away. Hollywood Homely just doesn't cut it.

I really don't get the Weasley hate. I remember reading a lengthy essay meticulously detailing how the Weasleys are dysfunctional and emotionally abusive. "Molly is a horrible mother for forgetting that Ron hates corned beef", etc. Like... these books are really, really not meant to be taken in a real-world context. Harry lived in a cupboard for ten years and still somehow turned out okay. I don't understand how some people take it so seriously.
