I use my laptop on a bed too. I used to put a large useless textbook under it so there was space for air to flow over, under and around the laptop. Any flat, hard surface should work.

I've since demoted the textbook and upgraded to a real laptop pad. There are many designs - flat surface with cushion on the bottom for knees, slightly inclined and flat gridded surface for better air flow, inclined but curved surface for air flow, etc. I don't know if you can find all the designs where you are. The lap pad version is the only one I found so that's the one I have.
