Are there enough runes to be compatible with the entire English alphabet, though?

In a manner of speaking. Sometimes more than necessary; there's a T and an H, but there's also a th- sound.

You have to improvise in some places. There's no C, so you use an S for a soft C and a K for a hard C. You also have to use K+S for an X and K+W for a Q.
