Avengers fanfic. Natasha's in a coma and Clint's writing her letters about how he misses her. It reduces some to tears; others think it's sappy.

That sounds really boring. Couldn't she be trapped in the past being forced to infiltrate the KGB as they plot to Take Over The World while he writes letters about how much he misses her? I like contrasts between the lavishly ludicrous and the humanistic and personal.

I haven't read it but that just sounds like another story that has a great female character get shafted for the emotional growth or plot arc of a male character.

If I'm wrong please correct me.

If fairness, it happens to slash couples in fics a lot too. I've read so many stupid "[dude] is in a coma or desperately ill or missing or whatever and [other dude] angsts and realizes he is in love with him" fics (and, okay, I secret enjoy some of them because guilty pleasures and all that)

I do agree that there should be more awesome natasha centric fic though! There are some good fic where she is a great background character, but I'd like more works where she is the center of the story

I get that happens. I think it just makes me think more about it if it's a woman because of the Women in Refrigerators trope.

Wait, does Natasha get better in this fic? If so, when in relation to the ending?

Oh yeah, I agree. I'd love to see her in the spotlight more.
