'Making love' used to just mean 'flirting' or 'sweet talking'. I'm re-reading Gone with the Wind right now and Scarlett uses it in that sense, definitely not the physical sense.

That's kind of neat, really - you have a different take on things, and that's cool.

It's funny watching old movies and someone says "making love" and it's a second before I remember what they really mean.

I think that someone said that in 'It's a Wonderful Life' and it always gives you a little jolt.
