But it is terrible! Now maybe they'll have to surrender their Man-Card, they'll be kicked out of the He Man Woman Haters Club and... wait, we don't know if OP is a man or a woman. They could be a guy or a gal and we have no way of knowing.

It's not exactly pro-woman that you just assumed the OP was a male, whether or not they are. And your assumption for the underlying reason they disliked it isn't any better. The OP really might have thought that all slash was porn, maybe they don't like porn stories. Maybe they do like stories you can 'fap' to, but didn't think they would like the idea of two men together, but they realized they did after trying it. Pulling the gender card here is unnecessary. The real issue is the way they judged something (and all of the people who enjoyed it) without ever bothering to try it for themselves, without attempting to understand it, without ever giving it a chance or investigating it properly.

Most of all: I didn't realize that only girls like slash.

Um, some girls pride themselves on "not being one of those girls".

And, yeah, it's a pretty common stereotype that slash is for girls.

That's true, my bad, some girls do that. I'd not thought of that angle. (That's what I get for reading/posting when too tired.) I've known plenty of guys who like slash though, it's really not gender specific. It's kinda sad that's the stereotype.

I made that comment on the assumption they could be either. I've met plenty of girls who hate "girl things" and slash fans all being women is a common stereotype (which leads to the same thing that always happens when people think only girls like something: it is automatically inferior and awful and you should be ashamed)

internalized misogyny is a thing
