My family sounds similar to yours! I had several friends in high school who always went around hugging everyone all the time and they actually thought I was either extremely repressed or came from an abusive home because I generally didn't initiate physical contact except for "special occasions," like if someone was crying. I love smutty-smut-smut in fic, though, but I also really do enjoy a slow build-up to that smut, with lots of small touches, gestures, and words along the way.
