That's too bad, OP. But it's good you found one community that you really love! I hope you're able toe eventually find similar happy spots in other fandoms, too.

I've had the same experience with Heroes and ST:TOS :) Lots of great fic, very few Mary Sues, quite mature and laidback people (at least in the FF.net section).

God, I wish the My Little Pony fandom was still anything like it was five years ago.

Yes. So much yes.

+100000000000000000000

I used to be a loud and proud MLP fan. Now the fandom scares me and I'm actually embarrassed to admit I love it.

I wish I knew what part of the fandom you live in, OP. I want to go there.

...I'd hardly even considered what this would be like, but dang. How was the MLP fandom before FiM? I'm imagining smaller and cozier, and a fandom I might have wanted more to do with...

(Anonymous) 2012-10-05 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
In my own opinion the fandom was almost entirely free of femme shaming and hatred on little kids. Porn of ponies, especially porn of underage ponies, was frowned upon and not the norm.

The only drama I ever came across was due to personal issues between people and not due to favorite ponies, pony humanizations or rape apologists (!)

Really? I don't know about oldschool MLP fandom (my involvement in it was pre-internet), but FiM fandom has been one of the less accepting fandoms I've been in. They talk a good game, but anyone who expresses personal discomfort of anything that ever happens in the show is completely dogpiled, often in really vicious ways. I tend to stay far away from anything that isn't fanart or new episode squee.

I love secrets like these. I'm happy you found a fandom home, OP <3

All I could think while reading your post was "Love and Tolerance"...

But hey, I'm happy you found a fandom that fits you, OP!

That's kinda sad, but at least you have a fandom that likes you and accepts you! :)

MLP Arena?

OP

(Anonymous) 2012-10-04 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
You got it. I'm not saying there's no drama there period but it's a nice safe haven for the most part.

It makes me really happy to see a secret like this on here :) Thank you, and glad you enjoy it there! :)

NA

I saw your secret and immediatly thought of the Arena. It's the only MLP related website I hang around these days due to all the rapid Bronies (not the sane ones).

(Anonymous) 2012-10-04 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Where is this magical land of drama-free (and I assume fucking brony-free) fandom, OP? inquiring minds want to know.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-04 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Probably the original shows, rather than FiM alone. Bronies only seem interested in FiM.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-04 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure what you define as a fucking brony, but there's very little drama on FIMfiction. (There are bronies, but I don't think they're fucking bronies.)

OP

(Anonymous) 2012-10-04 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Since someone already worked it out. It's the MLPArena. It's an all generation site but most of the members on there are old gen collectors and some people on there have been involved in the 'fandom' as it were for say 20 odd years now.

We do have a fair few 'bronies' on there but we mostly get the 'good' kind of brony rather than the rabid kind.

We did have some drama when the Brony thing became really popular and there was some tension but things seemed to have settled down. There's disagreements from time to time but most of the time people get their point across without turning things into a flame war.
