Sometimes it feels like people only care about being right, as opposed to trying to actually understand the reason our societies are constructed as they are and then trying to change things.

Of course, human nature + competitiveness + murkiness of subjectivity, it's so hard not to fall into that. It's hard to erase/compensate for that, a lot of cognitive biases evolved to enable us to make quick decisions, etc. plus trying to stand firm in the face of wider society constantly screaming BULLSHIT!! at you, but I think we should keep the self-bullshit detectors on too, keep with the self-awareness, and try not to slide into simplistic sanctimony. I reckon, anyway, who knows I could be wrong :P
