Yeah and that sucks. But the OP said it was specifically retconned away. That's just plain wrong. So that is what I was laughing at, nothing more.

I mean, I understand why they did the reboot from a writing perspective. It makes sense. They wanted a new world to build in really, not one bogged down by every episode of every series. I get that.

I also wish they could spend equal time in both realities. Because both have so much to offer in their own ways. So yes, it's sad they're going to be focusing on one for a while over the other but that doesn't mean the less focused on one is gone forever, never existed, was retconned, or will never be visited ever again.

So while I understand what you're saying and I sympathize I think what you're saying is completely different from what OP is saying. So while I will commiserate with you I will laugh at the OP.

"will never be visited ever again."

It won't ever be visited again. It still exists, in a notional sense, and obviously the things that have already been made will always be there, but for all intents and purposes, the story of the 24th century Star Trek universe is over.

...You know it's currently being visited right? Look up thread?

Novels and comics don't count.

Says who?

But for the sake of argument, you know all the actors are too old to really reprise their roles, right?

They could maybe do something in the far future with a new cast. It probably won't happen right now but you don't know what they'll do down the line.

That's what I'd like to see - a new television show with a new cast set in the 24th century - and it'll never happen. If there is a new television show, it'll be set in the nu-trek timeline. Which I'll still watch and like. But it won't be a continuation of the old timeline. Guarantee 100% never gonna happen.

And comics and novels... I've read way too many terrible, terrible, absurd, off-character Trek novels and comics to give credence to the notion that they're canonical or should be taken seriously (even though they've improved a huge amount from the bad old days of the 90s). To count them as a real, meaningful continuation of the stories of the series. They're a poor substitute, even if they're entertaining in their own way.

Maybe it won't happen in the near future but once Nu!Trek dies down a bit I can see it happening.

You can't say for sure it will never happen because you're not a time traveler or clairvoyant.

Personally, I would love to see a crossover of the two realities.

I just can't see anyone in Hollywood saying both "We should make a new Trek television series" AND "We should make it in the old style, like Enterprise and Voyager, because those were so commercially viable, and not like the insanely popular new style." It just beggars belief that this would happen. I suppose all things are possible, but I just really can't ever, ever see it happening. (Also I'm totes a time traveler, from the 26th century. Whatup.)

"Personally, I would love to see a crossover of the two realities."

That would be amazing beyond belief.

Yeah, that's why I said when Nu!Trek dies down. That way both are kinda not-as-popular-ish and so the creators can pick and choose. But by that point they might just reboot again. I just don't want to say it's impossible because I've been surprised before. (Oh holy shit! Hi 26th century anon. You have made my day! Take me with you.)

That would be amazing beyond belief.

Yeeesssss, like, one plot line could be the realities have started merging, trying to fix themselves, but that's causing disaster and people/things/planets from each reality popping into each other. Then both teams have to join up to stop it. BEST EVER.

Edit: Just a thought. What if Old Vulcan showed up in no-longer-existing New Vulcan's orbit? People would shit their pants. (Of course the heroes would have to fix that but it would be pretty cool.)

I was just thinking, what if Nu!Uhura showed up in OS!Spock's bed?? His eyebrow would go so far up his forehead, it would kiss the back of his neck. :)

And still he'd say

"Fascinating."

I can see Spock reacting to everything that way. Everything. Suddenly he's found himself in a reality where everyone is a tribble stripper? "Fascinating."

You can help the pitch to try, especially since you feel so strongly. Star Trek Renegades has a kickstarter for pitching to the network.
