I just ship MCU canon pairings (Steve/Peggy, Jane/Thor, and Tony/Pepper) and Clintasha (I don't mind if they're just friends though), and I've discovered that to a lot of people this means I'm 'not a shipper'? I don't really get it.

*gives you an Anon high five* I ship ThorJane too. Though this is apparently 'doing it wrong' when it comes to the fandom.

that scene where they bonded over mythology had me Norsegasming here

...shipping canon means you're not a shipper?

My first reaction is "probably because they think only slash counts."

Yes, I'm sure all of them think that.

Oh honey, don't you know? You're only a "real" shipper if, in the throes of overinvested insecurity, you knuckle down for pitched screaming matches with rival shippers at the tiniest slight and collapse into sobbing entitled hysterics if some scrap of faux-symbolism appears to maybe, somehow, out-of-context, support your ship in a roundabout way.

Wanting two characters to be together because you enjoy seeing them together and think their shared story is a good one that shouldn't be done away with? What's that?

/has spent way too much time in HP and ATLA fandoms

People define "shipping" in various different ways, it seems. I know I get a lot of confused reactions when I talk about shipping two characters platonically, for example.
