I know that and I think it's a great song and easily understandable out of context, but it's a blip in the actual musical. I feel like it's just banking on Susan Boyle going viral a few years ago. Anne Hathaway's not that great a singer, and I really care a lot more about who's cast for characters who actually make it to both acts.

I also think "Stars", "On My Own", and "Confrontation" are just as good. "Bring Him Home" makes or breaks the Valjean actor, "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" was highly used by the AIDS movement, and "Do You Hear the People Sing?" is far more reflective of the plot of the musical than "I Dreamed a Dream". It just annoys me that people consistently pick that song.
