Okay, here's what's bothering me about your comment: the story was published in 1997 and set in the 1960s. The movie was a good adaptation of Proulx's story, which is dated. It was billed as a healthy, gay love story, which it really wasn't.

Um...why is that bothering you about my comment? Am I not supposed to dislike it because of the year it was made or something?

But does it have to be badly written to be billed wrong? Because I totally agree that it didn't match how it was billed and that was fucking annoying. I just don't think stupid ads somehow leech into it and make it bad art.
