Is it considered weird to reblog things from people you don't know?

Generally no, not unless it's something blatantly personal-looking. (And that's less 'weird' than 'skeevy', IMO.)

If you're feeling really unsure about reblogging a particular post, you could always just drop a note in their Ask or send a Fanmail and get their permission directly.

Totally okay and highly encouraged. You'll make the poster irrationally happy for that extra note. ;P

Just remember to add the source of the fanart. Is it from deviantart? Pixiv? Some other site where the artist posted it personally?

If the reblog doesn't come with a source link, try and find it with an image search engine or at least write a little note in your reblog that you're looking for the source. Ask for help. Someone out there is bound to know where it came from.

Is it considered weird to follow people you don't know? I've not had a single qualm about following character ask blogs or fandom or advice blogs, but is it weird to just...follow someone? Or do people just kinda follow people randomly all the time?

Nah, it's not weird to follow someone. You don't even have to talk to them after you follow them. It's just saying "I like what I see and am subscribing to your newsletter."

nope, that's normal! lots of people on tumblr have a ridiculous amount of followers, like in the thousands and up. All those followers can't possibly know them personally!

Well, the person you're following might be weirded out or whatever, but the actual following isn't weird at all.

Like, I'll get the heebie jeebies every time someone follows my weirdo sparse blog without liking, reblogging, or mentioning what they like, because I'm dumb and get all, "WHAT DO THEY WANT FROM ME???? HOW DO I KEEP PLEASING MY AUDIENCE THAT IS ALL OVER THE PLACE AFAIK \D:/"

This is me, too. Sometimes I get followers and when I go snooping around their blogs I'm honestly left wondering why on earth they'd follow me and thinking they'll unfollow me in 5 minutes probably. So it ends up being both awesome and weird!

Nope. Folk will usually just browse a tag and reblog whatever they like. And their followers, or other folk, will reblog from them, and so on and so forth. It's kind of a given.

It's also normal if they remove all your original caption/commentary text if you made a photo post 8'( </3

I don't mind too much when people remove commentary, but it pisses me off when people strip image descriptions. They're there for a reason, damnit.
