I don't see how the fandom is 'totally accepting' of vriskaxtavros but maybe that's 'cause I ship that one (and will never admit it logged in). But I don't ship this. I guess I see the two ships as having a very thin line.

well, maybe i should put it this way - the fandom collectively loves vriska, and in my experience less people extend that love to tavros. however the ship is still fairly common (probably because there's ~canon to back it up). i see vriska is super abusive and more or less a bully, so it puzzles me that despite this fandom is willing to accept and even embrace her and yet hates on cronus almost religiously.

Vriska is definitely both of those things, but she also has a lot more depth to her. Liking her and excusing her actions are two different things. Cronus...we just met, and I doubt we're gonna delve that far into his backstory and motivation. He was basically made to be hated, and it worked really well. I'm not trying to convince you to love Vriska and ship vristav btw, I totally understand and respect your pov here.

idk i just think judging people for a ship, however inappropriate it may be, is kind of silly when we've seen empirically worse in homestuck. even though vriska does have more depth at this point in the story than cronus does, that doesn't negate the abuse she puts tavros through, just like cronus does to mituna (though on a far lesser scale imo). it just weirds me out.

Yeah. I usually agree with you, and I think OP does too. But I was creeped out when people called them 'cute', and worried about real-life implications. I'm not going to harass anyone though or write angry essays about it because I don't know people's reasons for liking something and I'm aware the things I like are pretty messed up but it still bothers me so I've just been...staying away.

ot agreeing with a ship is totally fine with me idc about that, and it bugs me when people try to rationalise or excuse "problematic" ships, i just don't like the op's tone when she says she judges people for shipping cronusxmituna.

but yeah i'd be creeped out if people called them cute too, since it's not. fandom collectively seems to have a problem admitting that it's okay to like inappropriate things, since it tries so hard to justify those things.

Maybe OP is feeling similar to me. Where I usually don't judge but I FEEL like I'm judgmental because of my gut reaction. They might have just made the secret when they were really angry about it. OR they could be a dick, I dunno. I can only speak for myself.
