Except for their first interaction being a cutesy fakeout about him falling in love with her at first sight? Castle and Beckett had a subtler introduction, and that's saying something. Even if their intent is never to 'pair them up', they clearly don't mind manufactured fake-couple shenanigans. Castle and NCIS provide more than plenty of that already.

But thankfully I will not be around to care, because the pilot turned me off for various other reasons and this became one of the few shows I've ever dropped before the second episode.

If they're really planning not to go there then they probably shouldn't have made commercials with Sherlock commenting on Joan Watson's sexiness.
