As for Alien Resurrection - I'm a fan of all the Alien films, been a fan since I first saw Alien at 16/17. I didn't want Ripley's story to end as it did in Alien 3, and although it didn't match Alien or Aliens (for me), I found it satisfying that Ellen Ripley became almost as dangerous as the creatures she had fought. (:
I was around on the 'net to see Avatar get panned, but I thought the planet and Naa'vi (?) were beautiful, regardless, and would like to see a series like The Blue Planet (narrated by David Attenborough) set on Pandora.
The only thing that matters to me when I read a book or watch a film is if I enjoy it. People seem to spend a lot of time arguing about things they don't like; I don't. It's squee or silence from me (:
