We were without electricity for a few weeks after Hurricane Katrina, and generally we spend about a week without water/electricity due to hurricane season, but other than that I've been pretty damn privileged.

I did spend a few nights on a bench when my dad kicked me out once (I got an industrial piercing, which he did NOT approve of).

Huh, good to know I'm not alone in being fucked over by the seasonal weather gods.

Those type of situations do suck. During the summer and winter, we're regularly without power and water, because we still live off of a well, and it freezes in the winter and goes dry in the summer.

The electricity goes out from the ridiculous snowstorms and thunderstorms, and it takes the fucking electric company forever to fix it. And we don't have a generator. So much fail.

Dude, no offense, but your Dad's an ass. Why would any parent deprive their kid of necessities because of something like that. I dunno, I guess b/c my parents had so little growing up, they would never put me or my sibs in that kind of situation on purpose. (All of the other times they didn't have any control of the situation.)

The worst part about not having electricity was being without air conditioning, to be honest. I think it hit at least 105 degrees every day for at least a week during that time, and I'm a little spoiled brat when it comes to hot weather.

And yeah, my dad's an ass. I piss him off a lot and usually he responds by telling me to get out of the house, so I go away for a while and come back once he's asleep. But that time he took my house key before I left so I wouldn't be able to get back in, and I didn't have anywhere to sleep so I just hung out on a bench when I got out of school. McDonald's gave me some food though!
