It was the first Star Wars movie I ever saw, I really liked it. Going on opening day to the first showing of the morning in town felt like a big deal. (The radio station was even outside to interview people coming out of the theater. Pizza Hut was there too, giving away personal pizzas, I still don't know why... but the pizza was good.) I didn't see anything wrong with it (although Jar Jar annoyed me). It's what got me into the rest of the films, and KoTOR (which I loved).

I had grown up with the original trilogy, but I don't like how some people consider you less of a fan if you like episodes I through III. I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed them on the same level as the original trilogy, but they were still fun, likable films to me.

Episode I was the first Star Wars film I saw in theaters, and I agree, it was an nice experience! (Where was my free pizza? I am disappoint!) When the opening crawl started I just about pee'd my pants in excitement.

Jar Jar was a huge problem for most people and while he was annoying as hell, he was also not what I remember most about that movie. I guess he didn't leave as much of an impression on me, so he didn't have a chance to ruin the movie for me. (Though I'm well aware people have other issues with the movie than Jar Jar.)

But yea, it's perfectly fine that Episode I was your first Star Wars movie, and that it was what got you into the other films is nothing to be ashamed of imo; what matters is you enjoyed them!

I already had seen the originals by that point but I also enjoyed going to see episode 1 at the theathers, maybe because I was quite young, maybe because my tolerance to bad movies was higher who knows? It had fun that time XD
And is quite cool you had so many nice memories of a movie (my local movie theaters never gave free pizza :( )
