i think that's the problem whenever someone tries to make a modern remake (prequel or not, that's what it more or less was) of a cult classic - you're probably going to disappoint anyone who liked the original. i didn't HATE the new thing movie, but i prefer the old one. i dunno, i feel like the old one had better tension and more freaky scenes, while the new one was mostly just another new movie about a blurry cgi monster.

this is of course putting aside the fact that the 1982 version was itself a remake/reinterpretation of an older movie
