Hm, I'm pretty fond of the lyrics for The Resistance, but I agree with you about the new album. I've heard a few of their songs from their new album so far and their lyrics just sound like they've given up in terms of writing them :P

I think some of TR's lyrics are nice, like "Resistance" and USoE, where they are ridiculous but unique and fun to sing along too, but it was weaker than the previous two albums. The lyrics on The 2nd Law are written in an even more heavy-handed way than normal, and lack the originality of previous lyrics. Instrumentally, this album is pretty fantastic, but the lyrics and vocals annoy me.
