that's one of my favorite non-exist ant tropes and i wish there were more (any, really) comic/stories/whatever around this premise

and i mean a lady that was genuinely monstrous all the time, not one that was a blonde bombshell with a ~*DARK SECRET*~ that she could turn into a wolf or had vampire teeth or was part dragon or something

the closest thing i've found is the monster girl.. uh.. fandom? genre? but it's mostly hentai-esque things

If you guys are fine with the animes, I always pimp Kemonozume.

i am down with the animes

it looks kind of interesting.. skimming the summary it kind of reminds me of claymore but with a love story

claymore's also about monster ladies, and it's pretty good, but they look like regular babes 90% of the time

Do Sharon Ventura as the She-Thing and Ben Grim during the time he was actually cured from being the Thing count? Because unlike other female counterparts (say, She Hulk), She-Thing was not sexy, and looked vaguely like the Thing with breasts. She didn't even get hair in that form. And yet, Ben Grim loved her completely until Tom de Falco decided that she would betray the FF for a cure.

can't say i'm familiar with fantastic 4, but it sounds like it would count

i like stories where the love interest has been a monster all along the best, but i'd take something like that too. i mean, now that i'm reminded of comics there have been arcs/characters with DANGEROUS women and guys that loved them (like the dark phoenix saga, rogue, whatever) but of course they were never hard on the male gaze lol :s

Tom DeFalco is a moron and oh fuck, you reminded me that I loved that era of the Fantastic Four so much...

another anime rec and sort of loosely related: Un-Go (and its prequel film Episode 0: Inga-ron) was one of the newer series I really enjoyed partly because of the unconventional dynamics between the main characters. Granted, the main relationship isn't exactly strictly "romantic" (though an argument can easily be made for that), and one half of the pair is a non-human supernatural entity who switches back and forth between a grown woman and a boy's body, and then occasionally takes on this demonic form, but s/he and the male protagonist have this interesting symbiotic relationship. I am probably not doing the series any justice at all and maybe making it sound way more kinky that it is but yeah, your comment just brought that to mind.

You need to watch the horror film "Let Me In" (The Swedish version is "Let the Right One In".)

It's half childhood-sweethearts love story, half horror story, and it's pretty good.
