I don't know about that. Kink memes are pretty good for determining trends in a fandom, and the Avengers one--interestingly enough--is a good example. There's a fair bit of Loki/Tony and Loki/Thor prompted, there's a lot of that Superfamily thing, some truly rampant Tony-is-raped-always ideas, quite a bit of Coulson-is-totally-alive handwaving. There isn't much in the way of extensive character death or interest in Thor (when it's not Thor/Loki) and that pretty well matches what I've seen as far as Avengers fanworks go.

Okay, yeah, I'll give you the Avengers (omg cackling at "truly rampant Tony-is-raped-always" :D), especially with regards to certain characters, but in most other fandoms I've been in, the kinkmeme is generally pretty far on the fringe and generally focused on very narrow portions of the canon material.

This is true; many kink memes are really just a minor part of fandom. I just thought I'd talk about Avengers in particular because of your icons. ;)

I just happen to have lots of Avengers icons because I love everyone's faces and I have only 15 slots to put them in :D But yeah, I guess my mind was on some other fandoms where you can really feel the difference between regular fandom and kinkmeme fandom (Buffy and Star Trek TOS come to mind), but I guess kinkmemes and general fandom correlate more often in certain fandoms, especially ones for films rather than series.

And yet... here I am in Avengers fandom not dealing with any of that because none of it appeals to me (aside from the alive-Coulson handwave). And I'm active, I have fun, I enjoy the hell out of it. But THAT stuff is not a part of what I participate in. Hmmm...
