I'm not really in the Harry Potter fandom, but do fic writers tend to take the 'Snape is attracted to Harry because he reminds him of his mother angle'? 'Cause that would be creepy. XD

Snarry was a big thing looong before that was revealed but that's probably a thing that's been done.

Some of us called Snape/Lily back around book 3, too; I knew a few Snarry shippers who were making a big deal about the "Lily's eyes" thing even before GoF hit.

Oh, that's kind of neat, I guess. I was big into the Snape/Lupin/Sirius love triangle at that time so I didn't even notice Snape/Lily subtext or theorize on that at all...I remember there was a Potter Puppet Pals musical that I think was only an audio file with clips of songs, and one of them was Snape singing about his secret unrequited love. So I was pretty amused when that turned out to be canon.
