somewhat OT, but kind of relevant- I just realised yesterday that you're in the ontd_muse comm! I saw a comment by you there and was like "oh hey, it's cherrycoloured from fandomsecrets!"
..That's my cool story for the day. =P I feel like I should have realised this sooner, but it's been a while since there's been much activity in the world of Muse. so yeah.

More on topic, I don't really think the lyrics are as terrible as you think they are- I think Hoodoo is a good example of a song with lyrics in it that kind of gave me chills, for instance. At any rate, I don't think it's too much of a problem because Muse tend to not take themselves too seriously all the time, even if some of their songs can be pretty serious sounding.

I don't think all of his lyrics are awful- I did love the ones on Absolution and BHaR. The lyrics "Hoodoo" are so amazing, that song gives me the chills too. I love that they don't take themselves seriously, which is why I love that they have songs about aliens and conspiracies, and why the early lyrics that made no sense are amusing to me. The recent lyrics are just really awkward and obvious to me. At least before, when they had bad lyrics, they didn't sound clunky and generic like NSC and "Survival". I don't really care too much about what lyrics say, but they just sound awkward now. Luckily, the music itself is still beautiful!

Ah, I remember you! I used to be hanachan01, and I hadn't really commented much on there since my sn change until last night. (I used the .mu forums for a week before I couldn't handle it. I still don't get it. If they hate Muse so much, why are they still there? :|)

Yeah, I'm not too into the meme of Matt being the worst lyricist EVER. He can be a bit clunky and awkward, but he's also written some beautiful lyrics. (I didn't really look too careful at the lyric booklet until now but holy crap it really looks like that! And the lyrics for Isolated System written out, I cannot.)

ah yes I recognise that username! Cool. cool cool cool! And yeah those forums are crazy. they do come in kind of handy every now and then but everyone there seems very angry. all the time.
And yes, I think clunky and awkward is a good way of putting it- it's a least a bit kinder than saying he's completely terrible. =P
Seriously. Who was in charge of writing out those lyrics. And who told them to write them out like that? Suspicious glares all round. I'm judging everyone involved.
