Hmm, I get what you mean. When a female character does something she does it because she's a woman first and an individual making her own life choices second. But when a man does something he does so because he's making his own life choices and there's no expectation that he stands up as a representative of all his gender and how they'd react.

Yeah, that is kinda misogynistic. I think loading up a character with the expectation that they positively represent their entire group rather than just expecting them to be well thought through and interesting is a good way to make sure that no female character can possibly live up to your expectations.
