5. I could understand this being a problem if they never thought about looking into other kinds of anime. But as I see it most of the time people watch things on Adult Swim and then go "hey I wonder what else is out there" and thus the cycle starts and they try to find other series. It should be your job as a fan of "underground" anime to enlighten others. Show them other series. Thats what fandom should be all about. And not be elitist about it, yo.

17. I want fan comm for this.

I aim to please, sir/lady. :)

5. THANK YOU. You are the first person to get the point. Don't claim to be a big anime fan and then totally blank out if I ask you about, say, Arislan or Sorcerer Hunters. Don't take Adult Swim series to be the end all and be all of what's out there. I'm totally up with people who want to learn more, but when all your fandoms consist of the newest fads...

5. Yeah...I understand that part of it then. It comes off as elitist in the secret, so I can see how people are upset about it. I think its ok to have those animes listed as interests just so long as your trying to find other animes and mangas.

omg arislan! totally forgot the anime but I remember it being one of the firsts I ever picked up at the video store back when it was cool and had lots of anime.

I was about to chew you out about your secret too but...

OMG Sorcerer Hunters fan! <3

And you're right, it saddens me when people are all into whatever's on TV, but refuse to even try new series. Mostly because they're "too damn poor".

I can understand disliking when people refuse to try anything else--there was a kid in my art class in high school who refused to watch any anime aside from DBZ, because "there is nothing that could ever be made that would come close to the brilliant plot and animation of that series." I still want to thwap him over the head when I think about it, and I haven't seen him for years.

Nevertheless, this?

Mostly because they're "too damn poor".

That's pretty freaking rude, and has nothing to do with "refusing to watch new series." Being without the means to do so doesn't mean you're refusing to. Can't doesn't mean won't.

It's nice to know you're apparently independently wealthy and can spend all the money you want on your anime, but not everyone can. Some of us actually ARE too damn poor. Seriously, that's a perfectly viable excuse for not being able to watch anime other than those shown on cable television.
