I don't know, half of what you said doesn't sound off to me. I'm asexual and I love shipping-I have ever since I was a kid. Of course personally I'm not into writing/reading/looking at porn or smut or anything the like, but still. Asexuality has nothing to do with romantic interest. Some asexuals are aromantic, but a lot are Hetero/Bi/Homo/etc/romantic.

Asexuality is simply the lack of sexual attraction to either gender, not romantic attraction. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy something out of your comfort zone or sexuality either. (Not all straight people write straight fic do they? Not all homosexual people write only slash/femmeslash do they?)
