You can be asexual and still like porn tho.

How? If you're unable to feel sexual urges, then what would be remotely interesting about porn? Bad acting?

/facepalm

Asexuality = lacking sexual attraction to...well, anyone. Not lacking a sex drive - also, fyi, some people do like watching the bad acting in porn.

Do you want some TMI? No? Too bad, this is fandomsecrets. I don't feel sexual attraction to any fictional characters, but I'll still often get turned on when reading smut. Sometimes it's because it incorporates my kinks, sometimes it's just because reading about sexual situations is arousing to me. How? Your guess is as good as mine. I also have a very low sex drive, just to make things even more confusing.

This is me, too. I don't like the idea of sex with other people, and I don't get turned on. No matter how many guys I think are cute, or what stories I find romantic, or what girls I think are pretty, thinking of them has never done it for me. Thinking of doing things with anyone has NEVER done anything for me. But thinking of the feelings I like, the physical sensations that feel good, that's all that really interests me when it comes down to the one or two days every couple of months that my body reminds me that hey, you do have some hormones after all! I've tried looking at porn, but most of it doesn't really work unless it's solo things where I can detach and imagine if it was me in that situation. People are a turn-off. Before I knew what porn was, I abused the hell out of homemade toys just trying to figure out why I couldn't get things going down there. Maybe I'm just me-sexual, but even that would make me just want to quit.

It's actually quite frustrating and annoying when it comes down to it. No one else is going to understand that this is just how my body works. And that old saying where asexuals would likely choose cake over sex? It's a stereotype, but 99.99999999% of the time, I'd rather eat something delicious than masturbate.

Academically-speaking, I understand this. I can see how it would be possible.

Doesn't stop me from having a hard time believing it in reality, though.

Well I don't believe it's any concern of yours how another person who has nothing to do with you identifies.

THEREFORE IT MUST BE TRUE! :|

Have fun being a douchebag.

Wow. That's...a little bit of an overreaction. Having trouble understanding doesn't mean I don't think asexuality isn't a valid orientation. Frankly, people like you are the reason everyone is confused; you could try explaining to the people who genuinely don't understand, but no. Right to the insults and the assumptions, because that's the best way to go about this.

Whatever. I hope you have a pleasant night.

There's lots of people in this thread who have explained it, though.

Ignore their butthurt reply. I can certainly see your point of view, anon. Everyone's definition of what asexuality is is totally different, but most people can agree upon it being the lack of attraction to any gender. Therefore it does bring up the question of how would porn arouse them if they are not 'turned on' by either gender.
