Many things can fall under intimacy- cuddling, holding hands, kissing, et cetera- that don't involve sex that you likely wouldn't do with a platonic friend.
Asexuality is about not being sexually attracted to people. That's it. Everything else is a toss up. You have romantic aces, nonromantic aces, aces that would be okay with sex if it were for the sake of someone else but wouldn't pursue it themselves, aces that would refuse all sex, lots of different kinds, but the main thing is, they're all not sexually attracted to people.
